NYC To Do–walk across the Brooklyn Bridge
what: walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.
where: subway to Chambers Street/Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall on the 4-5-6-J-M-Z, walk over the bridge and you end up in DUMBO
when: preferably after dark to enjoy the lights of the city. the walk is a little over a mile, but uphill, so it will probably take you about 20-25 minutes.
then what: walk down the stairs, take a left and another left and end up on Old Fulton Street. follow along until you come to Grimaldi’s on the left. Eat really good pizza (only comes by the pie so bring a friend). then walk to the waterfront and meander along the Brooklyn Heights promenade for views of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. head to the High Street A-C stop to get back home.
don’t leave home without your NFT guide so you can find your way around and explore more of the downtown Brooklyn area (or go to onnyturf.com/subway to print out maps of the streets with subway stops superimposed)
cost: the views are free, one pizza @ grimaldi’s is less than $20. bring cash-no credit card accepted. don’t forget your camera. another idea would be to start in Brooklyn around sunset to capture the beautiful light (see my flickr page for my photos from the promenade), then have an early dinner and then walk it off in the other direction after dark to maximize views.
